The tool clears the document's Info dictionary, including custom properties, and its catalog-level XMP reference. Open the resulting PDF in another viewer and inspect Author, Title, Subject, Keywords, Creator, and Producer. These are properties to check, not a claim that every input contains them.
What the operation does not remove
The output is reopened locally before it is returned. If the metadata check fails, no cleaned file is returned. This operation does not redact page text or rewrite embedded attachments. It can invalidate existing digital signatures, so keep a signed original and review any sharing copy separately.
Inspect before removing
Review document properties, comments, attachments, form fields, layers, bookmarks, actions, and signature status separately. Preserve the authoritative source when provenance or records policy requires it.
Verify the cleaned derivative
Open the output in a second viewer and recheck its properties, visible pages, links, attachments, forms, and signatures. Use secure redaction for sensitive page content because metadata removal does not erase visible words or hidden page objects.
