Image OCR works best when the letters are large, straight, evenly lit, and clearly separated from the background. A small improvement to the source image can prevent many corrections later.
Use a clean source image
Crop unrelated interface elements, correct perspective in camera photos, and avoid aggressive filters that erase punctuation. PNG is often suitable for screenshots and line-based text, while a high-quality JPG can work well for photographs. Do not enlarge a heavily blurred image and expect missing letter detail to return.
Match the export to the next task
Plain text is useful for copying and search, Markdown preserves lightweight headings and lists, and JSON is better for structured automation. Before reuse, compare names, codes, totals, and line breaks with the image. Keep the source nearby so every uncertain character can be traced back quickly.
